travel canada british columbia vancouver island victoria queen elizabeth's 1959 visit

I was 15 years old and on a trip with my parents when Queen Elizabeth visited Victoria in 1959.
I weilded my trusty brownie camera and tried to get some good pictures.
I remember distinctly waiting in the front line of a roped-off crowd for her to appear out of a meeting of some sort in the Empress Hotel.
As she came out, I stepped out into the aisle and framed a perfect full length picture of the Queen as she emerged...
Just as I was about to press the button, a Mountie put his hand on my shoulder and scared me so much I forgot to push the button.
I retreated back into the crowd and was only able to try and redeem myself at a later time with a shot over the heads of the crowd.
Talk about missed opportunities...
